Tortl - The Turtle
The tortl inhabit the warm seas of Eluan, spending most of their time in the open waters, only approaching the coast in their reproductive season. Large as a medium dog, their shell is bright green and yellow, and can withstand attacks from most melee weapons. These creatures' diet consists primarily of algae and seagrass. The tortl are great companions for sailors and seafarers, capable of carrying significant cargo or serving as a scout for underwater ex- ploration. Although they are not aggressive, they are great allies during combat because of their shells which serve as shields, and their speed.
Close to Thamarya, there was a monolith of power in the seabed. Numerous sea people, including the merfolk, con- sidered it a sacred place where they left offerings. One day, a group of pirates hired by a cabal of warlocks, attached chains to the monolith and tried to drag it away. This did not go unnoticed, and the merfolk prepared themselves for combat. However, the pirates were no ordinary band of brigands; they were Salgars, an army unto itself.
The merfolk overestimated their chances since they were underwater and the pirates were surface dwellers.
